Important Meeting TOMORROW!

HEY!

As mentioned before, there WILL be a meeting tomorrow in LECTURE HALL A! However, because there is a Senior Assembly and also program corrections, we will be having the meeting at the normal time- 3:30! So PLEAAAASE wait for that hour after school because we have A LOT of important information to tell you guys (especially if you are attending the Flower Market Event this weekend)! Also, if you haven't already, READ THE PREVIOUS E-MAIL!

Also, here's some new info:

We'll be having A BAKE SALE! woo hoo
Date: Tuesday, February
Time: Before 1st period, 1st period, 2nd period and 3rd period
Location: On the second floor in front of the SENIOR BAR!
Task: Bring in BAKED GOODS! Even though a lot of you will be at the FLOWER MARKET EVENT, try to take some time on SUNDAY or MONDAY to bake! We're going to have only 1 more bake sale after this before we head off to CONVENTION! So we want to raise as much money as we can =)

ONE LAST THING!

We're going to start a Book Buddies event with the Brooklyn Public Libraries and we are not sure which library would be most convenient for everybody. THUS, we want you guys to give us the name and location of the Brooklyn Public Library most convenient (or popular) for you guys. We'll announce the library later on. BUT PLEASE send us some suggestions so we don't choose a desolated place where nobody goes. =[ Send the e-mail to stuykc@yahoo.com with the subject BROOKLYN LIBRARY and all the other info in the body

Alright that's all for now! See everybody tomorrow at 3:30 in

READ THIS!~ Or else.. eat cookies...

Hey GUYS! Here's your daily digest of Key Club info =)

There is A MEETING THIS FRIDAY in LECTURE HALL A! If you guys still don't know where that is, just head down to the THEATRE on the FIRST FLOOR! There are program corrections for Freshmen and Sophomores, but you should definitely come to the meeting!~

WHY should you come to this meeting?

'CUZ KEY CLUB is working with BuildingStuyCommunity and other school organizations/clubs such as ARISTA, BIGSIBS and the SU in a combined effort to create a cleaner surrounding for everybody at Stuy. The campaign that we are launching is called "STUYSPACE" and the main objective is : Cleaning up after ourselves (it's that simple).

The reason why we are doing this is because we are trying to convince the administration to give us back some of our priviledges that have been taken away because of our lack of "cleanliness." The cleaners (not janitors or garbage guys) are constantly complaining to the administration. Thus, we are really hoping to get this message through to the Stuy community so that we can work together to keep the school cleaner and finally take back our priviledges and possibly get even more.

Here are some important points:
- 1. It's NOT that hard to clean up
- 2. The biggest portion of Stuy's garbage usually consists of lunches, coffee cups, and newspapers. So? Just throw your trash away in the garbage bins. Don't be lazy and leave your trash around.
- 3. We can't get any more student space until we take care of the space we already have.
- 4. This will help us overall as a school. We do not want our second home to be a trash heap; a cleaner surrounding will be a more enjoyable place for all of us.

WHOA! That was a lot of reading, but this campaign is really important to all of us, especially, all of the officers of the organizations/clubs involved in this. We hope to build a better place for the Stuy students of the present and future. So PLEASE everybody, as Key Clubbers you guys should automatically know that LITTERING IS BAD! SO just help in the effort by spreading the word about what we're all trying to do and play your part just by cleaning up after yourself.

** So as part of the effort we are also asking everybody to try to make it to the meeting on Friday! We're going to have a a few people from BUILDINGSTUYCOMMUNITY to talk to everybody about this campaign. Anybody who read this e-mail and can answer questions at the meeting will get a really cool t-shirt!! SO BE THERE!!

Also, here's an update for the FLOWER MARKET EVENT THIS WEEKEND! Please continue signing up for it! Specify which days you want to volunteer and if you can only stay for certain shifts! We want as many volunteers as possible and this will be an exellent point-booster!!

- YO CAB! =)

DKC + LTG Read this...to find out what they mean!!

DKC = Distinguished Key Clubber
It is an award given to Key Clubbers who have been hardworking during the past school year. It's a really easy award to win. There is NOT a limited number of winners. All you have to do is fill out an application, and as long as you meet the requirements, you get the award. It's something snazzy to put on your college app since Key Club is an INTERNATIONAL organization with a college level, called Circle K, and an adult level called Kiwanis.

If you're interested in the award, email us back at stuykc@yahoo.com with your name, ID, and phone number since we're going to have write you a rec for your application. Also, we'll give you more information about the requirements, how to fill out the applications, etc. The requirements are NOT difficult. So, don't worry about it. Hope lots of you guys apply because you deserve recognition for your hard work.

LTG = Lieutenant Governor
Key Club NY District is divided into 26 divisions. We're in division 11. Our Lieutenant Governor is Gwyn Lange. Every month the LTG holds a divisional where members from each club gather every month and each cabinet reports on their club's progress. The LTG is responsible for informing about big projects that we should work on, events that we can cooperate on, and events all clubs are holding. The LTG also acts as a liaison between the clubs and the district governor, who by the way is Karen DeMaria. The LTG is responsible for making sure all the schools submit their paperwork on time (not that much paperwork either).

So, as an LTG, you have to be able to talk to a large group (you have to make speeches to win to the election) and be organized. It is a commitment since sometimes you have to miss school to go to big board meetings and you HAVE to attend District Convention, which this year is in Ellenville, NY from March 28-30 (we'll let you know more about that later on). Also, you'll need your parents' support since they'll probably have to drive you there and they'll have to be okay with letting you miss school.

This sounds big, but don't be scared by it. It's a great way to contribute to Key Club on a higher level and to be more involved. If you're interested, even a little bit, email us at stuykc@yahoo.com with your name, ID, phone #, and email address. We'll give you the contact information for our current LTG so you can get a better idea of what the job consists of. Hopefully, some of you guys will be interested.

sorry, that was so majorly long. we love you guys! you're awesome members.
<3,
your cabbie

Contribute to The Locksmith!

Hey guys,

So, we're trying to get another issue of The Locksmith out covering December events.  We want articles covering every event so all you guys, our lovely members can find out about what goes on at different kind of events and hopefully sign up for them next time.  It's a great way to contribute!  Plus, you get points for everything you submit.  If you're not good at writing articles, you can write poetry (examples of which you can find in our last issue).  Just check out our past issues at the website, stuykc.org.

Here's a list of some events that happened in December: NYRR Hot Chocolate, Joe Kleiner 10K, Black and White Ball, Holiday Four Miler, and JCC Wrap It Up

If you have something you want to submit or you have questions about submitting stuff, email locksmith@stuykc.org.

Hope you guys enjoyed your holidays and caught up on sleep!  Happy New Year!
